Call for Submissions
Volume 8 2010

Maryland Voices, Maryland’s only creative nonfiction publication, is now accepting original creative nonfiction stories from Maryland students in grades 9- 12. Selected stories will be published in Volume 8 of Maryland Voices in May of 2010. Creative nonfiction is the telling of a true story in an entertaining and creative way. Stories must be under 3,000 words.

Your submission will be judged on the following criteria of nonfiction writing. It should:

• Share a good, narrative story that contains a defined setting, a solid plot, and strong characters.
• Have an apparent and deeper subject.
• Tell a timely story that is also timeless.
• Offer a sense of reflection on behalf of the author.
• Pay careful attention to the craft of writing.

Submit all stories by March 15 via email (by 11:59 p.m.) or snail-mail (postmarked 3/15):
