How do we ever learn unless we are willing to try new things? Was it Michael Jordan who said? "You always miss 100% of the shots you do not take" As a society we have such disdain for people who set a goal and for whatever reason regroup and re-evaluate. I am guilt of a grimace when I witness a professional athlete wipe out? I turn away? But the truth is that guy on the ski slope who wiped out after attempting someone ii could never do has courage wipe out or not. My 20 year old is coming home next week. He feels like a failure. He is concerned about how his father and I will view him. After 5 weeks in Navy bootcamp he "wiped" out. I could never have even had the courage to sign up. So is it a failure to change course? To change his mind? We should applaud him for taking a chance and for his willingness to try new things. Facts are just like my son I have missed you! And I am proud of you for trying something new. And I wondered how the hell were we ever going to sell books and get read without facebook?

What an awesome idea. I see a baby learning to walk in the first one, and then later, water imagery in the ocean, sinking into the darkness of deep water, swirling around, then falling to the bottom. Then sunlight and a touch of someone else (to symbolize that we need to help each other), then gliding back up to the water's surface and breaking free.

There it is. I have no idea how you would film that!!!

Excellent so very true! Was talking to a close friend about this just days ago ... I just can't recall a time when there was so much discord and polarization in every vein. I read some posts last night about civil union and yep the only conclusion I could arrive at was such hatred for those that are what? Unlike you the writer of such statements. We seem to be really far from peace, love and acceptance and the older I get that is all I want ... Live and let live!

I've often lamented the place that youth "sports" has gotten to, where "everyone is a winner" and games are played without scores being kept, etc. I think that sort of thing teaches the wrong kind of message. I do believe it is possible to teach our kids how to be kind and respectful of one another while still embracing the spirit of competition. I think we teach unreal lessons when kids are coddled and brought up in a competitive environment while being taught that they shouldn't be competitive. That just doesn't make sense.

And that translates to what you are talking about. I don't think celebrations should go on so long that they interrupt the flow of the game, but people should be allowed to be excited about succeeding. I think pro sports should penalize the taunting, but dancing around and yelling and being excited isn't taunting. Getting up in the opposing players' face is taunting, tossing the ball at them is taunting. But so many things that are penalized are just ridiculous. And the NFL is very hypocritical in that they do allow all kinds of verbal taunting, etc. to go on during a game, but God forbid you actually show any exuberance for a job well done.
