Final update: 10:55 p.m.
Awoke at 5:11 a.m. to make sure I had time to write, which I took full advantage of.
This is what a typical morning is like for me when I’m able to get up early enough. I can only hope that getting in better shape (first workout today!) will give me the energy to have more consecutive mornings like today…
Off to take Holland to the gym for her workout. I’ll get my workout in before I pick her up at 10… <3

After I dropped off Holland at the gym, I took a little detour through Loch Raven Reservoir, which is just about 3 miles from our home. We’re extremely fortunate to have such a rich natural area so close to home. I took several pictures, but the one below is, I believe, best captures the overall sentiment of an early morning in spring at Loch Raven.

Just returned from Madelyn’s last regular-season lacrosse game–best game of the year! Although they (Loch Raven) lost 8-7 in the final minute of play, the girls did a phenomenal job, especially on defense.
Way to go Madelyn and Loch Raven!

Final thoughts on the day: I gotta be honest–I’m beat. I’ve been up for about 19 hours, and it’s been a long, long day.
After Maddie’s lacrosse game, Amy worked out while I stayed home with the kids, and then it was off to a friend’s house for a Preakness cookout and wine celebration. Lots of fun, and incredible wines. I think my favorite was a dessert wine, a chocolate zinfandel out of the St. Michael Winery. Expensive ($25-$30 for .375 liters) but well worth the money.
We watched Rachel Alexandra win the Preakness–the first filly to win in nearly 80 years, with Mine That Bird taking second. Such an exciting race run in the rain.
We took a short walk to the playground, where the kids played various games, and then we headed back home for more food and wine.
As I said, I’m beat. I didn’t expect this entry to be deep or intense in any way. I’m still getting the process down for the my3*6*5, so it may be a few more days before my brain shifts back into analytical mode. So I thank you for your patience these next few days.
Have a great night, everyone. I leave you with a picture of Holland and Madelyn on the swings… :)
