Introducing my3*6*5

For years, I have watched from the sidelines as others have participated in various challenges that involved writing *or* photography *or* friendly correspondence. I love them all, and I've never been able to narrow my choices to try just one of them to see how I might do...

Just last month, though, I was bombarded with information about Project 365, where you take a picture each day to document your life for one year. The creators (or the literature that has been passed down to me) accurately boast that such an activity will enhance your memory tremendously of the adventures of daily living. It makes sense, right? The more we document, the more we retain. A single picture taken 20 years ago can trigger a rush of emotions that feel as fresh as that moment that was captured. I believe fully in Project 365.

But I'm not just a photographer; I'm a writer, too. And an educator. As much as I liked Project 365, I just felt like it was similar to all of the other projects that have teased me--too narrow in focus.

That's when I decided to modify Project 365 a bit and make it my own. Specifically, make it my3*6*5.

What is my3*6*5? Over the next year, beginning (officially) on June 1, I will do the following on a weekly basis:

3--letters of friendly correspondence to 3 individuals to whom I have not yet written (preferably about writing)

6--photos capturing my life on 6 different days

5--journal entries capturing my life, overlapping the photo days, so that all 7 days are always covered each week.

I will be uploading this information on my blog on a daily basis. Please stop by often, and please leave a note in the comments section if you are doing Project 365, my3*6*5, or some other project that has you posting on a regular basis, documenting your life.

Thanks for stopping by!
