Rus immerses himself in projects that promote living fully in all aspects. His latest project, Cool Blue Souls, challenges you to contemplate where you are, Connect with the peace that resides within, and Create a new life for yourself – without sacrificing the things that are most important to you.
It's not about finding the right job or the right spouse. It's about reconnecting with the deeper and spiritual core that defines you like no other. It's about holding on to that cool blue soul and letting it shine brightly in all you do, at any time, in any place.
Love your life. Give to others. Experience the beauty, all over again, of that wonderful, illuminating, cool blue soul, waiting within you.
Rus VanWestervelt received his undergraduate degree in English and education from Towson University and, more recently, his Masters of Fine Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College.
Rus is the founder of three organizations: Maryland Voices, Ravenwater Press, and Lines of Love, and is the co-founder of Cool Blue Souls with his writing, photography, and spiritual colleague, Cara Moulds.
Maryland Voices is a publication established in 2001 and is now in its eighth volume. Maryland Voices publishes creative nonfiction written by Maryland's high school writers.
Ravenwater Press seeks to print works by local and regional authors who are interested in making a difference with their writing. Ravenwater's first title, I'm Still Trying To Figure It All Out Myself, by Larry Cohen, was released November 2009. Ravenwater also carries a small line of stationery, featuring Rus' photography and the works of other local artists.
Lines of Love is a non-profit foundation established to help teens struggling with depression and anxiety. Lines serves as a bridge between those teens and the services currently available. Each academic year, Lines of love holds local and regional events at high schools, colleges, and universities in cooperation with mental-health organizations.
Cool Blue Souls, Rus' latest project, is a culmination of decades of research and writing in spirituality and living life fully. He and his partner, Cara Moulds, provide individuals the chance to experience their journey through life with passion and happiness.
Rus is available for speaking engagements and workshops in writing, photography, publishing, inspired living, and helping teens struggling with depression. Contact him directly at rus@rusvw.net or at 443-834-9489.
